What is the Booster Club?

The Portland Winter Hawks Booster Club consists of fans that enjoy the game of hockey and the skills of the players involved and wish to help these young gentlemen after their junior careers are over.

How do we do that?

We do this by having fund raising events during the year. The money that is raised during these events is presented to the Major Junior Hockey Scholarship Fund at the end of the season. This fund is used for those players who do not go on to play pro hockey and wish to go to college, but may have a hardship that prevents them from attending college. For each year a player plays in the WHL they are eligible for one year of ongoing education.

How many events do the Boosters have?

Usually we have two events during the year with the players and the fans. This gives the fans a chance to meet the players off the ice, to learn more about them, and for the players to have a little fun away from the game and school. We also have a monthly meeting before the games with a guest speaker such as the coach.

Buttons

Located at the Booster table every home game and at most events, the Booster club has player picture buttons and hockey buttons for sale.

Pizza Blast

The Pizza blast is held each year. It works like this: Tickets are sold and a raffle is held just before the players arrive. If your ticket is called you get to choose a player and buy his pizza, plus you can have him sit at your table for pictures, friendly talk, autographs.

Promotional Material Distribution

Booster members help the Hawks and their sponsors with the pregame hand out of promotional material to the fans attending home games. This is fun and exciting time to meet other Winter Hawk fans. To volunteer to help with these handouts stop by the Booster tables during a game or talk to the board at one of the monthly meetings.

How do I join?

Fill out the membership FORM, and bring it to the Booster table at any home game. Or, stop by the Booster table during any home game and sign up. It only takes five minutes, and then you will be able to attend the meetings, assist at Booster sponsored functions and have a great time with a great group of supportive hockey fans.
